AI Literacy & Critical Thinking

Rebuilding digital culture for shared power and transparency.

In an algorithm-driven society, corporations and opaque systems shape what young people see, believe, and share. ClariQuest empowers youth to deconstruct algorithms, recognize manipulation, and reclaim digital agency.

Our Mission
“Our mission is to rebuild digital culture as a space of shared power and transparency—where every young voice can innovate and illuminate pathways toward a more ethical, informed, and democratic world.”

The Crisis

The Problem: An Algorithmic Reality Without Consent

Young people are growing up in digital environments where opaque systems and commercial platforms shape their access to information, opportunities, and worldview—often without their understanding or informed consent.

Youth currently lack critical literacy about how modern digital technologies—including generative AI, recommendation engines, and automated surveillance—influence narratives of truth, amplify bias, and perpetuate ideologies.

Without this literacy, young citizens are stripped of meaningful agency in digital debates. Today, these vulnerabilities are accelerating rapidly with hyper-realistic AI deepfakes, synthetic media, and personalized persuasion loops.

The Evidence of Youth Vulnerability is Stark

Key Research & Empirical Studies
Stanford University (2021) 3,446 Students

Less than 1% Identified Propaganda

When shown a viral video claiming ballot stuffing in U.S. primaries, only 3 out of 3,446 students identified that it actually depicted voter fraud in Russia. 96% failed to discover that a purported climate site was bankrolled by fossil fuel groups.

News Literacy Project (2024) 1,000+ U.S. Teens

8 in 10 Inclined to Believe Conspiracies

Despite being digital natives, only 40% of surveyed teenagers were ever taught media literacy in school. Meanwhile, 80% reported being inclined to believe conspiracy theories and manipulated narratives they encountered on social feeds.

Univ. of Münster, Germany (2025) Misinformation Study

Overconfidence Masking Gaps

Young people feel highly confident in their ability to detect false content, but struggle severely with accurate identification. Current educational efforts focus merely on passive recognition rather than proactive verification.

!
The Long-Term Consequence: If unaddressed, this crisis will lead to a generation disempowered from shaping technological futures, vulnerable to coordinated manipulation, and excluded from building the ethical, democratic digital infrastructure necessary for a just society.
Our Approach

The Solution: Education, Frameworks & Simulation

A proactive model that transforms students from passive content consumers into equipped digital investigators.

01

Educational Resource Platform

Equipping youth with the critical skills to detect misinformation and understand the algorithmic systems shaping their digital reality through open-access guides, case studies, and interactive classroom workshops.

02

Collaborative Interactive Games

Partnering with schools and youth organizations to build interactive simulation games where students navigate real-world digital dilemmas, investigate deepfakes, and experience how algorithms manipulate feeds.

Core Methodology

The 8-Step CRITICAL Framework

A practical inquiry process designed to realize UN SDG 4 (Quality Education) by instilling habits of questioning, investigating, and building counter-narratives.

C Step 01

Challenge

“Challenge your assumptions”

Question what you think you know about how digital algorithms, search rankings, and social feeds operate behind closed doors.

R Step 02

Recognize

“Recognize manipulation patterns”

Spot subtle algorithmic hooks, clickbait architectures, and emotional triggers designed to maximize screen engagement over truth.

I Step 03

Investigate

“Investigate hidden bias”

Uncover how dataset selection, historical inequities, and black-box AI designs perpetuate real-world discrimination.

T Step 04

Think

“Think critically before sharing”

Pause before you repost. Practice verification, reverse image checking, and multi-source cross-referencing.

I Step 05

Innovate

“Innovate collective resistance”

Build youth-led community hubs and peer workshops that turn digital literacy into an active, collaborative movement.

C Step 06

Construct

“Construct new narratives”

Create positive counter-stories, community archives, and inclusive digital media that prioritize justice and human dignity.

A Step 07

Amplify

“Amplify truth”

Distribute fact-checked stories and educational guides across peer networks to elevate ethical discourse.

L Step 08

Lead

“Lead with agency”

Empower young creators to step up as ethical designers, technologists, and digital rights advocates grounded in empathy.

In Development

Interactive Simulation Quest

An interactive scenario game where players guide an avatar through dynamic digital dilemmas: dissecting misleading headlines, tracing bot amplification, detecting AI hallucinations, and solving media investigations.
