Empowering Young Voices to Question Algorithms
ClariQuest was created by a student, for students—grounded in the belief that young people should not merely be passive data points for proprietary algorithms, but active, critical architects of the digital future.
Why I Founded ClariQuest
Hi, I’m Xing, a Grade 10 student based in Singapore. Like almost everyone my age, my day-to-day life is deeply intertwined with digital feeds, search recommendations, and increasingly, generative AI tools.
Over the past few years, I realized that while young people spend hours online every day, very few of us are ever taught how these algorithmic systems actually function under the hood—how recommendation engines monetize our attention, how societal biases get baked into machine learning models, and how synthetic media can distort public discourse.
Traditional education often tells students to "verify sources," but in a world of automated recommendation rabbit holes and AI-generated deepfakes, superficial fact-checking isn't enough. We need systems-level critical thinking.
I started ClariQuest to address this gap. Our mission is to rebuild digital culture as a space of shared power and transparency—where every young voice can innovate, question, and illuminate pathways toward a more ethical, informed, and democratic world.
Our Three Foundational Pillars
Algorithmic Transparency
Demystifying how automated systems, neural networks, and feeds decide what content reaches young people.
Systems-Level Critical Thinking
Moving beyond basic fact-checking to interrogate power structures, commercial incentives, and cognitive manipulation.
Youth Agency & Shared Power
Ensuring youth are treated as informed co-creators of digital culture rather than passive consumers.
